Gov. Whitmer Caught on Hot Mic, Now She is in a World of Sh*t

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was caught on hot mic using expletive language while waiting to give her remarks during the Democratic National Convention.

Whitmer Makes Bizare Remarks

“It’s not just ‘Shark Week,’ it’s ‘Shark Week (expletive mouthed)‘” Whitmer can be seen saying.

Her remarks drew laughter by people who were in the room before she stopped and hinted at her reason for just mouthing the curse word.

“I have learned about the hot mic,” Whitmer added.

“Shark Week” is a traditional program that the Discovery network puts on every year where they produce shows revolving around sharks. The event lasts a week and has become a staple in a way in American culture.

Her Remark was Livestreamed… Oops!

The part where Whitmer mouthed the expletive was caught by a live feed that was starting to broadcast nationwide during the convention. Her joke, however, was not broadcasted on television.

The video of Whitmer went viral on Twitter and it received mixed reactions.

The five-minute speech given by the Democrat praised Joe Biden and his radical running mate Kamala Harris. She hailed them as being the leadership America needs in Washington.

Like 99.99% of liberals, she also heavily criticized President Donald Trump, including for his response to the coronavirus.

“We took this pandemic seriously in Michigan,” Whitmer said. “We listened to medical experts, we planned. With a lot of work from auto workers — and too little help from the White House — we executed our plan. We saved thousands of lives … Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will lead by example. It will be science, not politics or ego, that will drive their decisions.”

Democrat Explains the Situation

When it came to her Shark Week comment, she told Buzzfeed’s News O’Clock podcast that she was referring to a debate preparation technique when she was caught off-guard.

She told Buzzfeed that the phrase she used was because of a debate coach who told her to put a smiley face at the top of her paper when standing behind a podium because “the happy warrior wins.”

Another instance she recanted was when a comedian joked about how comfortable women are discussing menstruation.

“Where women used to be demure, now if a woman is talking about menstruation she might say, ‘Well, it’s Shark Week, mother*******’,'” Whitmer told Buzzfeed. “It’s funny and it’s about women’s empowerment, and it makes me smile, so I would write ‘It’s Shark Week’ on top of my paper.”
