We’re Being Fed SO MUCH Disinformation That DHS Has Chosen to…

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the creation of a “Disinformation Governance Board” or, as some Orwell fans on social media have described it, a Ministry of Truth. In itself the fact that the Biden administration is creating a board to counter what it thinks is disinformation is concerning enough, but the person chosen to lead the board implies that it could be even worse than anticipated.

DHS forms Disinformation board

The DHS board is being marketed partly as an answer to human trafficking organizations that take advantage of people who are involved in “irregular migration,” otherwise known as illegal immigration.

That, however, masks most of the true purpose of the board, which is to be led by one Nina Jankowicz. Jankowicz supported the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 campaign, claiming that it was a Russian hoax.

The story turned out to be true, but describing things as Russian hoaxes is what Jankowicz is trained to do and what she can be expected to spend most of her time doing as the board’s executive director.

One of her past employers was the Ukrainian government, which she has advised on information warfare. That Ukrainian government has been pushing disinformation as aggressively as the Russian government since the beginning of the current war.

Biden has chosen someone who shows that the priority for the DHS isn’t so much truth-telling as it is convincing Americans to only believe in the right brand of disinformation.

The name of the board, to be fair, does not specify whose disinformation it is intended to govern. Bad disinformation will be countered with good disinformation in the eyes of Jankowicz and the White House.

More Russian interference stories

According to a  House Democrat who spoke to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about the board, one of the gravest national security threats to the United States is a campaign by foreign powers to ” destabilize our elections by targeting people of color with disinformation.”

Many Democrats remain convinced that Russia was behind the results of the 2016 election and that their candidates are only defeated because of foreign interference.

The discussion of foreign election manipulation in relation to the board implies that the DHS is being prepared for use as a political tool in future elections.

Nina Jankowicz will now be given the authority to declare that something like the Hunter Biden laptop story is simply Russian disinformation with the authoritative voice of the DHS.

Needless to say, a government that believes men can transform into women and that systemic racism is a pressing concern is not an especially trustworthy judge of the truth.

Conservatives can expect most of the “disinformation” uncovered by Jankowicz and her board to bear a convenient resemblance to criticism of the Biden administration.
