Donald Trump has just reversed course, and this is going to be a good thing for the GOP.
Trump has reversed his stance on mail-in, early, and absentee voting.
If Republicans ever want to win another election in this country, they all better follow suit.
Get with the Times
In the 2020 election, Trump rejected these forms of voting and I firmly believe it is one of several reasons that the GOP has failed to make progress since 2020 in general elections.
The GOP actually told voters to stay away from these forms of voting, and while this led to the GOP dominating election day tallies, they got crushed in early and absentee voting because this is how the majority of Democrats voted.
As the votes were being counted and Republican leads vanished, including Trump, it led to the claims of voter fraud.
This time around, however, Trump has changed his mind.
During a recent interview, Trump stated, “Whether you vote absentee, by mail, early in-person or on election day, we are going to protect the vote.
“We make sure your ballot is secure and your voice is heard. We must swamp the radical Democrats with massive turnout.
“The way to win is to swamp them, if we swamp them with votes they can’t cheat.
“You need to make a plan, register, and vote any way possible. We have got to get your vote.”
This is huge for elderly voters who may not be having a good day on election day and cannot get out to the polls, as well as people who just have busy schedules and need to vote when they can, not necessarily on election day.
If we can get conservatives to embrace these methods of voting, I guarantee our election-day numbers will be much improved.
