The election campaign headquarters for Donald Trump filed a report claiming “some of its internal communications have been hacked.” They have a hunch that Iranian operatives are behind it. Politico broke the news on Saturday, August 10. They’re the ones who received the hacked documents.
Trump campaign hacked
The Trump campaign has been hacked and it looks like the Ayatollah is behind it. That’s not a surprise. Politico knew better than to publish the “campaign documents including internal research carried out on Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.”
It popped up in their email without them asking anyone for it. They were quick to publish an exclusive about the hack though.
When the BBC read the story, they reached out to the Trump campaign directly. “These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election,” came the reply.

Since “Politico said it had confirmed the authenticity of the documents,” BBC notes they didn’t bother.
They weren’t anything earth-shattering anyway. Politico reports that “the Vance file was 271 pages long and based on publicly available information about Vance’s past record and statements.”
The sender also thoughtfully included “part of a research document about Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who was also a vice presidential contender.” Team Trump isn’t to worried about the contents. They’re more concerned that the attack got through, even though they’re on high alert.

Spear phishing attack
The Trump campaign didn’t divulge any specific information they may have that indicates Iran was specifically to blame but the day before, “Microsoft released a report indicating that Iranian hackers targeted the campaign of an unnamed US presidential candidate in June.”
According to the alert from Microsoft’s Threat Analysis Center, “the campaign was sent a spear phishing email.” That’s one that appears legitimate on the surface but opening any attachment can be dangerous.
“Over the past several months, we have seen the emergence of significant influence activity by Iranian actors,” MTAC advises.

As related by Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung, the MTAC report does coincide “with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a vice presidential nominee.” The Ayatollah really doesn’t like him.
“The Iranians know that President Trump will stop their reign of terror just like he did in his first four years in the White House.” Politico reports that starting in late July, they started getting emails “from a person who identified themselves only as ‘Robert’ using an AOL email account.”
This hack attack comes on the heels of reports that an Iranian operative was out to assassinate Trump. He hired a local crew of hitmen without realizing they were undercover cops. The whole thing seems to have been a set up by the feds.
