I am very excited to report that we have a new candidate in the race for TX-34.
I am speaking of former Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX).
Flores won a special election, but the redrawing of district lines led to her defeat in the 2022 cycle.
Now she is back, coming after Rep. Vincente Gonzales (D-TX) for the same seat she just lost in the 34th district.
Flip That Seat
When Flores won her special election, the district was far more Republican-friendly than it is now.
She will clearly have her work cut out for her to flip this seat, but she is in a virtual tie right now in early polling, which is huge considering she had not announced at the time.
Flores is an up-and-coming star of the party, but she is also very green, so that loss may have actually helped thicken her skin, especially if she plans on going after a seat that is in a Democrat-dominated district.
Flores is playing off the disastrous Biden policies to take down her opponent.
In her campaign announcement, she stated, “We made history in South Texas last year, but there is more work to be done.
“Joe Biden’s policies are running our country into the ground, and people in our communities are suffering.”
I am excited to announce that I am officially running for Congress in #TX34
We made history last year, but there’s still work to be done here in South Texas.

We wish her the best because if the Republican Party is going to not only survive, but thrive, Flore is the type of candidate we need to help introduce conservatism to more minorities in this country.
