Liberal Democrats are absolutely stunned. They feel betrayed by Mitt Romney. The RINO Senator from Utah was expected to honor his obligations to the Democrats and oppose the fast-track replacement of Notorious RBG. Instead, he did the unthinkable and totally caved in to President Donald Trump. “My liberal friends have over many decades gotten very used to the idea of having a liberal court, but that’s not written in the stars.”
Mitt Romney disappoints his fellow Democrats
Progressives are left speechless that the man they counted on to sabotage Republican plans double crossed his fellow Democrats instead. Everyone knows that Mitt Romney is a Democrat disguised as a republican, but now they wonder if some Gypsy fortuneteller paid him a visit and told him what lay in his future if the RINO went rogue on this one.
Romney’s announcement virtually guarantees that Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s replacement will get an approval vote in the full Senate before the election, guaranteeing a 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court. Democrats are flabbergasted. They relied on Romney and he stabbed them in the back. Just like he did to the Republicans.
Democrats already had commitments from RINO Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, as expected. They counted on Romney’s support for three. One more renegade Republican would work to stop Trump dead in his tracks. When Romney switched sides, it made finding two more traitors impossible.
He swears he’s not a hypocrite
Senator Romney claims he feels no remorse for the hypocracy of throwing his fellow Democrats under the bus. He’s all in favor of “strengthening the high court’s conservative majority.” His Deep State handlers are furious and were throwing things at the television when they heard the news. “My liberal friends have over many decades gotten very used to the idea of having a liberal court, but that’s not written in the stars.” He twisted the dagger in their backs by declaring it “appropriate for a nation that is center-right to have a court which reflects center-right points of view.”
Besides that, he admits, “it’s the law.” Because “the opposition party controlled the Senate in 2016,” Romney explained, “Democrats’ arguments about that move being unfair did not weigh on his decision regarding Ginsburg’s replacement.” The president’s party controlled the senate so tough fudge, he added.
“It wasn’t unfair because it was consistent with history. It was consistent with precedent, it was consistent with the Constitution,” Romney told reporters. Democrats who cheered him on at the impeachment hearings won’t be inviting him to their cocktail parties anymore. Right now, Amy Coney Barrett and Barbara Lagoa are seen as the top contenders and a decision on a pick is expected by Saturday.
