Joe Biden has been taking a lot of heat in the media for not going to Maui.
Typically, when something like this happens, the president is on the ground within a week.
Joe keeps using the same excuse he always does… he does not want to be in the way.
Well, he just changed his mind.
Do the Right Thing
Let’s be realistic… Biden being on the ground contributes nothing to the actual recovery effort.
However, that appearance is often very uplifting to the local community simply because it shows the man cares.
Now, residents are so pissed off, Joe’s visit is going to have the opposite effect.
He took so long to say he would go, the residents don’t even want him.
That is especially true because the White House drug its feet on recovery efforts and funding.
Biden did finally confirm that he would be headed to Maui, stating, “My wife Jill and I are going to travel to Hawaii as soon as we can.
“That’s what I’ve been talking to the governor about; I don’t want to get in the way. I’ve been to too many disaster areas.
“But I want to go, make sure we’ve got everything they need. Want to make sure we don’t disrupt the ongoing recovery efforts.”
Biden hates this kind of stuff and it really drains his limited battery life, so I cannot wait to see how many gaffes occur during this trip.
