Recently, Democratic Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey was indicted on bribery charges by federal prosecutors. Now, the corrupt senator has chosen to pin his acquittal hopes on Hunter Biden’s lead attorney, Abbe Lowell of Winston & Strawn LLP.
This news follows a series of allegations from prosecutors that Sen. Menendez had stashed gold bars and cash throughout his home in exchange for influencing foreign government contracts to favor political donors – totaling over $480,000 in cash stuffed into envelopes and hidden in clothing and closets within his residence.

Despite these serious accusations, Sen. Menendez has accused prosecutors of making false statements to malign his public service instead of focusing on facts related to the case at hand: “Since this investigation was leaked nearly a year ago, there has been an active smear campaign of anonymous sources and innuendos to create an air of impropriety where none exists” he said in a statement following news of the indictment.
“They have misrepresented the normal work of a congressional office…On top of that, not content with making false claims against me they have attacked my wife for the longstanding friendships she had before she and I even met.”
Abbe Lowell is no stranger to defending high-profile individuals – most recently launching a countersuit against the Biden administration on behalf of Hunter alleging federal prosecutors similarly trying to “embarrass” or “target” him through unlawful disclosure methods such as whistleblowers with IRS ties like Gary Shapley who spoke out about “preferential treatment” he claimed was hindering investigation efforts regarding his client’s tax records.
Sen. Menendez finds himself facing serious criminal charges at this time while relying heavily upon Abbe Lowell’s expertise in order to achieve an acquittal outcome – something which could potentially be tricky given Lowell’s past experience.
Oonly time will tell if hiring Abbe Lowell was indeed a wise choice after all or simply another risky move.
