The Democrat Party is falling apart as an internal civil war is heating up, with prominent elected officials beginning to fight amongst themselves.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, widely known for her support for extreme socialist policies, is reportedly considering a primary challenge against long-time Senator Chuck Schumer.

Schumer was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1981, and stayed in that position until 1999. In 1998, he was elected to the Senate, and took office after leaving the House of Representatives in 1999. Schumer has been in office as a senator since then, taking his spot as Senate Minority Leader in 2016. As a Democrat running in a solid blue state, he has never lost an election.

This possible primary challenge from Ocasio-Cortez could throw a wrench in Schumer’s perfect record, as it seems the Democrat party has moved further left towards her socialist perspective, and away from establishment Democrats like Schumer, especially in ultra-blue New York.

Represenative Ocasio-Cortez, colloquially known as AOC, has told reporters than she is trying to figure out the “most effective” way to approach her career aspirations to make sure she can push her radical policies.

“I’m not playing coy or anything like that. I’m still very much in a place where I’m trying to decide what is the most effective thing I can do to help our Congress, our [political] process, and our country actually address the issues of climate change, health care, wage inequality, etc.,” she said.

“I’m not sure about that either. For me, I don’t make these decisions based on these short-term factors,” AOC added.

“We’ve had to deal with a fascist president and [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell. There’s this thing, ‘Are we doing a good job?’ There are things you can do in the minority. There are also things you couldn’t do with this minority because Senate rules changed,” she continued.

Democrats who are deemed “moderate,” like Chuck Schumer are starting to worry about their next primary election, as AOC and other far-left Democrats are pushing for radicals to challenge the establishment.

It is unclear whether Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will actually follow through with her plan to challenge the Senate Minority Leader, or whether any such challenge would be successful.
