Nothing to see here, just Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer once again unveiling his anti-American agenda. The Democratic Senator is fighting to remove the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap in the next coronavirus relief round.
Schumer Wants to Make That Dems Get Richer
This would give a tax cut to the wealthiest 1% of taxpayers, specifically to the richest people in Democrat “blue” states.
“We need to cushion the blow of this virus,” Schumer said. “The SALT cap hurts people affected by the virus. It hurts so many of the metropolitan areas like New York.”
President Donald Trump unveiled a historic tax reform law in 2017, called the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Restricting deductions allowed for lowering some of the revenue losses due to low tax rates. This made the SALT deduction capped at $10,000.
Before this law, the wealthiest taxpayers were able to receive a federal tax liability deduction by filing itemized deductions, which allowed them to count all their state and local taxes towards the deduction.
Trump Historic Tax Cuts Get Criticized
President Trump put a stop to the deduction, which backfired in a way. In affluent areas in Democrat-controlled states with high taxes, the GOP lost control of congressional seats. In one instance, seats in Orange County, California flipped completely to Democrats, Breitbart News reported.
Even so, the left is still pursuing the removal of the SALT cap. Schumer is intent to make sure that state and local governments do not have to take the tax cut partially because wealthy campaign donors want subsidization on the backs of the rest of the country.
“I want to tell you this: If I become majority leader, one of the first things I will do is we will eliminate it forever,” he said. “It will be dead, gone and buried.”
Some Democrats Are Against Schumer’s Agenda
Democrats are divided over Schumer’s radical move, with even a former Obama administration official criticizing him on Twitter last week.
Come on, not this again.
Repealing the SALT cap for 2020-21 would be a $137 billion tax cut, with about 63% going to the top 1%.
It does nothing for states and localities except potentially crowd out the actual fiscal relief they urgently need. https://t.co/jlSjIhnzpq

Despite the controversy surrounding this topic, the Democrats, who currently control the House of Representatives, have passed a repeal of the SALT cap that would ultimately be in place for two years.
According to The Hill, Schumer called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to band with the Democrats to eliminate the SALT cap.
Trump Versus the Deep State
With his strong radical agenda, Schumer has been a major political player attempting to shift the country to embrace a “blue” philosophy. His deep distaste of President Trump and conservative values has made him a prominent leader trying to unseat Trump’s missions.
In January, the senator told ABC News, “The greatest thing America has is its honor and its values. That’s what the Founding Fathers focused on. That’s what all of our great political thinkers have focused on, and no person — no person has done more to destroy the honor and values of America than Donald Trump,” Schumer said. “That’s why I think he’s got to go, in the election, if not sooner.”
One thing is clear, Schumer’s actions show his ties to helping the leftist elite and leaving everyday Americans out to dry.
