ICYMI – Not everyone in the democratic party is loyal to the extreme leftist ideology that has taken control of the party. The farther they move forward the fewer party members travel with them.

The latest in democratic refugees is Louisiana state Rep. Jeremy LaCombe. He became the second Democrat in the state legislature to abandon the party this year.

LaCombe’s leaving the Democratic party coincides with the defection of North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham. Cotham’s departure from the left-leaning party to the Republican side provided GOP legislators with veto-proof control over Gov. Roy Cooper who is also a Democrat.

The Louisiana state Rep. is a former prosecutor with an A+ rating from the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association. He won the election for state representative in 2019.

According to reports, the Democratic lawmaker indicated he would switch parties, switching to the Republican party.

Republicans have a supermajority in the Louisiana House which allows them the ability to override Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards’ vetoes.

Lacomb’s switch to the enemy party comes just before the Republican-dominated legislature convenes in Baton Rouge for its regular legislative session. It is expected that during this session they will tackle woke culture war issues, as well as define the allocation of Tax money.

Sam Jenkins, the House Democratic Caucus Chair, took the latest abandonment of the democratic party in stride.

“We look forward to working with Rep. LaCombe during this legislative session to increase wages, lower costs, improve our schools, and pass insurance reform that benefits Louisiana families and small businesses,” He said to news outlets.

LaCombe is not the first Democrat to abandon the party in Louisiana state.

It was reported that Louisiana state Rep. Francis Thompson switched parties to Republican, after serving 48 years as a Democrat. He explained the switch as his need to stay true to his Christian faith.

“The push the past several years by Democratic leadership on both the national and state level to support certain issues does not align with those values and principles that are a part of my Christian life,” Thompson explained.
