Shop NowRep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) decided to have an anti-Israel event at the Capitol Visitors Center.
When House Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) got wind of it, he canceled her event and booked a pro-Israel event in his place.
Lo and behold, Tlaib ended up moving her event over to the Senate side, leaving McCarthy with considerable egg on his face.
She Got You
Tlaib’s event was called “Nakba 75 & the Palestinian People,” with Nakba translating to “catastrophe.”
Her program read, “May 15th marks 75 years since the beginning of the Nakba, which means ‘catastrophe.’ Seventy-five years ago, Zionist militias and the new Israeli military violently expelled approximately three-quarters of all Palestinians from their homes and homeland in what became the state of Israel.”
When McCarthy found out about the event, he stated, “This event in the US Capitol is canceled. Instead, I will host a bipartisan discussion to honor the 75th anniversary of the US-Israel relationship.”
So, Tlaib moved the event over to the Senate, we have to assume with the blessing of Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).
There were two groups associated with Tlaib’s event.
The Jewish Voice for Peace, which the Antidefamation League has called a “radical anti-Israel activist group that advocates for a complete economic, cultural and academic boycott of the state of Israel” and that “celebrates figures who have been convicted of engaging in terrorism.”
The other organization is called Middle East Understanding, which Liora Rez, the executive director of the nonprofit group StopAntisemitism, described as, “one of the top propagators of false anti-Israel rhetoric on social media.”
Tlaib literally brought terrorist-supporting organizations to the Capitol, and Democrat leadership was okay with it.
That is the state of Congress today.
