The UN is no stranger to controversy for its highly questionable stances and now they are coming out with more anti-Israel propaganda.
On Wednesday, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling the Temple Mount in Israel’s capital of Jerusalem by its Muslim name.
The UN is calling it al-Haram al-Sharif which has caused Israel’s UN ambassador to say that the body is purposefully ignoring the city’s Jewish roots.
The resolution states that the 193-member council is “gravely concerned by the tensions and violence in the recent period throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and including with regard to the holy places of Jerusalem, including the Haram al-Sharif.”
The resolution declared the “importance of the City of Jerusalem for the three monotheistic religions” including “the special significance of the holy sites.”
Israel’s UN Ambassador, Gilad Erdan told the General Assembly that the resolution “completely ignores any link between the Jewish people and the Temple Mount – our holiest site. This is a disgrace. The audacious attempt to rewrite history will not change the indisputable fact that the Jewish connection to the city of Jerusalem dates back thousands of years.”
“They will also not change the fact that today, our connection to Jerusalem is stronger than ever. A growing number of countries are moving their embassies to Jerusalem, our united and undivided capital,” Erdan continued.
Muslims, Christians and Jews all regard the Temple Mount as a respected holy site. This is the location where both Jewish temples used to exist before they were destroyed. Now the area is where two Muslim holy sites sit – the Dome of the Rocky and the Al Aqsa Mosque.
Eight countries, including Australia, Canada, Guatemala, Hungary, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru and the United States, joined Israel in voting against the resolution.
The UN also went on a spree of hate against Israel accusing them of mistreating Palestinians despite no evidence of such.
The UN’s assault on Israel with a torrent of one-sided resolutions is surreal,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, a Geneva-based, independent non-governmental watchdog organization.
“The UN’s disproportionate assault against the Jewish state undermines the institutional credibility of what is supposed to be an impartial international body. Politicization and selectivity harm its founding mission, eroding the UN Charter’s promise of equal treatment to all nations large and small,” Neuer added.
