President Trump has expressed his frustration over inaction by who he believed to be one of his chief allies, over knowledge of investigations that were kept from him and the public.
Attorney General William Barr has known for months about investigations into Hunter Biden and his business dealings. Barr kept this information from the public despite the fact that it was knowledge that the voters deserved to have prior to the election. Even as President Trump called for investigations into Hunter Biden, the attorney general kept his mouth shut.
Barr was reportedly briefed “before the spring” about the investigations into the Democratic presidential nominee’s son, who revealed that he was being investigated in a statement that was issued by Joe Biden’s presidential transition team. According to the statement, prosecutors from the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office contacted Hunter Biden’s attorney about an investigation into his “tax affairs.”
The Daily Caller News Foundation received information from a source familiar with the investigation who claims that it began in 2018, and that contact between the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Biden’s lawyers indicates that the investigation has moved from the “covert” stage to the “overt” stage.
Other sources have alleged that Hunter Biden may also be the subject of money laundering investigations.
President Trump’s Reaction
President Trump shared a Twitter post by Todd Starnes, a conservative commentator and author, which read: “If the Wall Street Journal story is true and Attorney General Barr knew in the spring about the Biden investigation and kept it quiet — he should be fired by the end of business today.”
The president’s only comment on the tweet read: “A big disappointment!”

Nearly an hour later, President Trump sent out another tweet, making an important point about the timing of this news: “Why didn’t Bill Barr reveal the truth to the public, before the Election, about Hunter Biden. Joe was lying on the debate stage that nothing was wrong, or going on – Press confirmed. Big disadvantage for Republicans at the polls!”

Unnamed sources cited by mainstream media outlets have claimed that President Trump threatened to fire AG Barr, but was convinced not to by his aides. For once, many conservatives hope the mainstream media is right, that the president wants to fire Barr, because he seems to deserve it.
