Massive Fire Killed Over 100,000…

A massive fire erupted at a large egg farm in Bozrah, Connecticut causing the death of thousands of chickens.

Fire officials revealed that the fire was reported at the Hillandale Farms property in Bozrah around 1:00 p.m., where more than 100 firefighters were called to the scene.

The fire was finally extinguished later that same day and at this time, the cause of the blaze remains unclear.

Connecticut authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which burned for hours.

Safety officer John Way for the Bozrah Volunteer Fire Co. stated that the fire originated in a large building about 300 to 400 feet in length and two stories high.

The building housed an unknown number of chickens, although local media reports cited The Salvation Army who claimed that over 100,000 chickens were killed.

Officer Way did not confirm the local media reports of exactly how many chickens were lost in the fire.

Representatives at Hillandale Farms did not respond to requests for comment nor have they answered any phone calls regarding the incident at this time.

According to the company’s website, Hillandale Farms asserts itself as one of the country’s leading egg producers, having raised over 20 million chickens for egg production.
