The trap has been set, now we just need Biden to walk into it.
House Republicans are now demanding answers from the Biden administration about the rise in child labor in this country.
They are correctly linking it to the rise in migration at the border, specifically underage children that have been released to guardians, then disappeared from the system.
The Issue
On April 17, the New York Times dropped a devastating piece on the problem of migrant children in this country.
It outlined how the vetting process of guardians was stripped down.
It also went into detail how 85,000 children that have been released via the Biden administration have just disappeared.
It gave personal accounts of some of these children that are now being forced to work to pay off debt to get into this country.
A woman named Linda Brandmiller noticed the issue of children being released to unvetted adults, and when she tried to bring attention to the issue, she was fired.
The piece is horrific in terms of what is happening with these children and I highly encourage you to read it when you have a few minutes.
Few mainstream media outlets picked up on the story and once again, during a sit-down interview with Biden, the topic was not even broached.
So, Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) is now leading the effort to get to the bottom of this issue.
He wrote, “These children are sent by their parents and drawn to our country for economic opportunity.
“Then, our systems and the protections they should be afforded fail them as a lack of vetting puts them in harm’s way.
“It is the responsibility of HHS to properly vet the people these children are being released to and to protect them from being exploited.
“Yet, it has been reported that caseworkers feel rushed to move children out of government custody quickly and are not fully vetting the people to whom the children are released.
“Thus, putting these minors in dangerous environment.”
Will the administration finally be held accountable for this debacle or will they brush off the letter and possible future subpoenas the way they have Rep. McCaul (R-TX) for the Afghanistan documentation?
I wish I could say that I was shocked that most media outlets are okay brushing this under the rug, but it just does not surprise me.
