Bodybuilding Champion Neil Currey Found Dead at 34

The bodybuilding world has just lost a legend. 34-year-old British champion Neil Currey has just unexpectedly passed away. Known for being a bodybuilder and fitness competitor, Currey recently made his debut at the 2017 world championships where he competed in International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness events.

His former trainer, Milos Sarcev, announced his death on Instagram and paid tribute to him in an emotional post.

In the post, Sarcev stated, “Absolutely shocking, heartbreaking news – that my former athlete @neil_currey died today. My last/best memory of him was this smiling face after he won New York Pro and fulfilled his lifetime dream of qualifying for the Mr. Olympia. I am lost for words and filled with pain and sadness. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. RIP Neil and God bless your soul.”

The cause of death has yet to be determined, but there are reports it may have been suicide.

Neil was from Britain and earned his pro card after taking first place in one of the National Physique Committee’s Worldwide Amateur Olympia Italy competitions.

He competed as a classic physique competitor and went on to win gold at the New York Pro in 2022.

Last year he finished 16th in Olympia’s classic physique division, following his second place finish at 2021 Tampa Pro and third place at Pittsburgh Pro in 2022.

Rx Muscle posted their condolences on Instagram: “Stunned and beyond saddened by the tragic news that Neil Currey has passed away at the young age of 34,” they wrote. “We pass our most sincere and deepest condolences to Neil’s family, friends, and to all of his fans around the world.”

Our thoughts go out to Neil’s family during what must be an incredibly difficult time for them.
