Donald Trump cheated death once again on Sunday, September 15. This time, he was out golfing at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach. That’s about four miles down the beach from his Mar-a-Lago resort. Alert Secret Service agents spotted the barrel of an AK-47 poking out from behind some bushes “several holes ahead of Trump.” The attempt was unsuccessful, Trump is safe and authorities have Ryan Wesley Routh in custody. He happens to be a Democrat from Hawaii, with “a prolific arrest record that spans several decades.”
Trump survives second attempt
Once and future President Donald Trump has now survived a second attempt on his life. Apparently, nobody considers Joe or Kamala worth killing but Trump has Democrats going homicidal.
Details are trickling out slowly. Ryan Routh apparently “mounted a GoPro on the fence and was ‘intent on filming‘ what would have been the murder of a former president.”
Around 1:30 p.m., a Secret Service agent “spotted a man with a firearm hiding in the shrubbery surrounding the property.” According to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, the agents “had been clearing the holes ahead of Trump when they saw a rifle barrel poking through the bushes.”
By the time they spotted him, the sniper was “about one or two holes away” that’s approximately 400 yards, “from where Trump was playing.”
The sheriff relates that’s “not a long distance” for an AK-47 with a scope. The weapon was retrieved at the scene. As soon as agents spotted the muzzle, “one of them opened fire at the gunman.” Apparently, they weren’t taking any chances but they could also use some more time on the firing range.
The bodyguard missed at least four times and the 58-year-old suspect got away. They aren’t saying if the sniper got any rounds off toward Trump or not. Thankfully, a witness was quick with their phone camera.
A photo of the car
A witness conveniently located just outside Trump International “saw the suspect drive off and was able to take a photo of the car and share it with law enforcement officials.” They fed the plate number into the computer and it was quickly spotted by a license plate reader.
“The suspect was later stopped driving northbound on Interstate 95 after crossing into Martin County.” That’s abut 45 miles from the golf course. Sheriff Bradshaw “did not identify the suspect or give details on a possible motive.” He did relate that the man taken into custody was “relatively calm” when detained.
It sure looks like an attempted assassination so that’s what they’re investigating. Trump was “returned safely after the incident to his private Mar-a-Lago club, where he resides in neighboring Palm Beach.” He quickly got out an email to supporters.
“There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” He also issued a defiant vow. “Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!”
Before Ryan Routh decided to put Donald Trump out of Democrats’ misery He’s had “dozens of run-ins with police, stretching back to at least the 1990s.” Originally a North Carolina native, his rap sheet lists “simple drug possession, driving without a license, expired inspection and operating a vehicle with no insurance.”
None of those are a big deal but in 2002, “Routh was arrested after barricading himself in his roofing company’s office during a three-hour standoff that followed a traffic stop in which he put his hand on a gun before fleeing.” He’s been in Hawaii since 2017. Building “simple housing structures for homeless people.“
