Assembly Releases ‘Disturbing’ Report on Cuomo

The New York State Assembly’s Judiciary Committee has just released a report detailing their investigation into the misconduct of disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo. the Chairman of the Committee called the Governor’s conduct “disturbing”.  The investigation focused on the accusations of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, the publication of his self-congratulatory book about his COVID response, the horrific death toll in New York’s nursing homes due to his negligent (if not murderous) orders, and the scandal of poor safety conditions around the construction of the State’s bridges. In short Cuomo’s corruption has been laid bare for the world to see and it … is… astonishingly bad.

The investigation, conducted by the firm Davis Polk & Wardwell, LLP on behalf of the Legislature went into excruciating detail of the harassment accusations of Brittany Commisso and an unnamed NY State Trooper. The report in regards to the sexual misconduct read,

“We have carefully reviewed the former Governor’s submissions, all of the arguments therein, and have independently reviewed the multitude of evidence – documentary and testimonial, including the former Governor’s own statements – and find overwhelming support that the former Governor engaged in multiple instances of misconduct.”

The Most Disturbing, Disgusting Crime of Andrew Cuomo

But as vile as Cuomo’s misconduct toward the women in his employ was it doesn’t hold a candle to the astonishing level of callous neglect that cost the lives of well over 15,000 New York Senior Citizens.

The report explains, “The treatment of nursing home patients infected with COVID-19 and the reporting of their deaths became an issue early on in the pandemic. On March 25, 2020, then-Governor Cuomo and DOH issued the March 25 Directive to nursing home administrators, directors of nursing, and hospital discharge planners. Citing “an urgent need to expand hospital capacity in New York State,” the March 25 Directive provided that:

“No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19. [Nursing homes] are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission. . . . As always, standard precautions must be maintained, and environmental cleaning made a priority, during this public health emergency.” (Emphasis in original.)

On May 10, 2020, Governor Cuomo amended the March 25 Directive with Executive Order 202.30, which provided that: “Any . . . hospital shall not discharge a patient to a nursing home, unless the nursing home operator or administrator has first certified that it is able to properly care for such patient. . . . [A]ny . . . hospital shall not discharge a patient to a nursing home, without first performing a diagnostic test for COVID-19 and obtaining a negative result.”

These measures had the indisputable effect of causing a massive wave of absolutely avoidable COVID-19 related deaths in the most vulnerable of all populations, and at least 15,000 families lost a parent, a grandparent, a brother or a sister.

As reported by GOP Newsfeed, “In an absolutely catastrophic report, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, leftist strongholds both broke the story: Gov. Cuomo’s top aides doctored reports to the department of health resulting in,

“significant undercount of the death toll attributed to long-term-care facility residents”.

“The number — more than 9,000 by that point in June — was not public, and the governor’s most senior aides wanted to keep it that way. They rewrote the report to take it out, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

The Wallstreet Journal described the Cuomo scam to hide the horrific consequences of forcing nursing homes to accept COVID+ patients, over their objections and alarm in detail,

“New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s top advisers successfully pushed state health officials to strip a public report of data showing that more nursing-home residents had died of Covid-19 than the administration had acknowledged, according to people with knowledge of the report’s production.

“State officials now say more than 15,000 residents of nursing homes and other long-term-care facilities were confirmed or presumed to have died from Covid-19 since March of last year—counting both those who died in long-term-care facilities and those who died later in hospitals. That figure is about 50% higher than earlier official death tolls.”

New York Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie charged the Judiciary Committee with determining if there was sufficient evidence to support the allegations against Cuomo, and in turn, justify impeaching him.

“This has been a profoundly sad chapter in New York’s history. I commend Chairman Charles Lavine, the members of the Judiciary Committee and the team at Davis Polk for their hard work and diligence in completing this investigation,” Heastie said. “I also want to acknowledge everyone who participated in all of the investigations for their cooperation, particularly the brave women who stepped forward. As we have throughout this process, we will continue to cooperate with all relevant investigative bodies to provide them with the evidence we have uncovered.”

As “disturbing” as the chairman found the report, nothing is more disturbing than the fact that Cuomo is not behind bars for the rest of his life.
