Ukraine is taking credit for killing Russian General Igor Kirillov. They took him out with a rigged electric scooter parked casually in front of his doorway. Vladimir Putin will no longer have the services of his Radiation, Chemical and Biological warfare expert.

Russian general executed

Russian General Igor Kirillov was executed in an explosion at his home in Moscow, on Tuesday. The assassination happened one day after Ukraine’s SBU security service declared him responsible “for the ‘mass use‘ of prohibited chemical weapons on the eastern and southern fronts in Ukraine.

He served as “head of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense troops.

Russian authorities note an aide was killed along with the general, “by explosives planted in an electric scooter.” The bomb detonated “as he left the building he lived in on Ryazansky Prospekt in south-eastern Moscow.

BBC notesKirillov had become notorious for outlandish briefings at the Russian defense ministry which prompted the UK Foreign Office to label him as a ‘significant mouthpiece for Kremlin disinformation.

He was a lot more than a loudmouth. He also was in charge of “Russia’s Timoshenko Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Academy.” After that, he took his current role with the army in 2017. The general was the one who ordered use of “barbaric chemical weapons in Ukraine.

Starting with “the widespread use of riot control agents,” and ramping up to “multiple reports of the use of the toxic choking agent chloropicrin.

Putin needs a new pro.

More than 4,800 cases

General Kirillov apparently believed in overkill. Ukrainians are aware of “more than 4,800 cases” where Russia used “chemical munitions” since the start of the war. Russia’s full scale invasion started in February 2022.

Since then, “toxic substances had been used in drone attacks as well as in combat grenades.” Ukraine got a little nasty in return, using drones to drop flaming thermite on Russian troops.

Kirillov “earned his notoriety” with propaganda blaming the U.S. for outrageous things. One was claiming that Uncle Sam “had been building biological weapons laboratories in Ukraine.” The Kremlin used what the general had to say as “an attempt to justify the full-scale invasion.

He waved around some papers he “claimed had been seized by Russia on the day of the invasion.” Russian media was all over them even though the documents were debunked “by independent experts.

Just last month, General Kirrilov lied that “one of the priority aims” of Ukraine’s push into Kursk “was to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant.” He had a slideshow to support it, “purportedly based on a Ukrainian report, alleging that in the event of an accident only Russia territory would be exposed to radioactive contamination.

The general warned often that Ukraine was seeking to develop a “dirty bomb.” Of course, we deny that. “His claims were rejected by Western countries as ‘transparently false.” He won’t be telling that story anymore.
