President Donald J. Trump has been completely exonerated by a minority report released by Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee headed by Ranking Member Senator Chuck Grassley. The 140-page report, with complete citation of each fact, contains testimonies from former Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, former Deputy Attorney General Richard Donaghue, and former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia BJay Pak and absolutely eviscerates Democrat claims that President Trump sought to manipulate or ‘weaponize’ the Department of Justice in an attempt to remain in power. The committee which was launched by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill) focused on events from Dec. 14, 2020, and Jan. 3, 2021.

The minority report was released as a counter-argument to the hyper-partisan hatchet job composed by Sen. Durbin and his Democrat majority on the committee which applied the false characterization that “Donald Trump was unable to bend the Department [of Justice] to his will. But it was not due to a lack of effort.”

Tristan Justice of The Federalist wrote,

“Trump, Republicans concluded led by ranking member Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, never directed agency officials to act outside the guidelines of what would be appropriate for department staff in the course of securing election integrity.”

Exonerated By Republicans With Facts – Condemned By Democrats With Opinions

The minority report relies heavily upon the testimony of the witnesses and the facts and documentation of the day, where the Democrat’s majority document seems to rely largely on suppositions and motivations that they ascribe to President Trump with little to no actual evidence.

In the minority report, Grassley and the GOP members concluded,

“[T]he available facts and evidence show that President Trump listened to his senior DOJ and White House advisors at every step of the fact pattern presented by this investigation and that he did not weaponize DOJ for his personal or campaign purposes. The records acquired by the Committee show that the President’s concerns centered on what he perceived as an attack on the electoral system and his firm belief that the American people had been wronged by election fraud that undermined the sanctity of the 2020 election. With these concerns in hand, President Trump’s approach to DOJ was to ensure that it was aware of election fraud allegations and that, with knowledge of those allegations, they were actually doing their job to investigate them. Indeed, with respect to some of the most consequential decisions which took place on January 3, 2021, President Trump twice rejected Clark’s idea to send his letter to the individual states and twice rejected the notion of terminating Rosen as Acting Attorney General. Moreover, as the testimony illustrates, President Trump did not fire any DOJ or FBI employee relating to his belief that more should’ve been done to investigate election fraud allegations, further undermining public claims that the President pressured DOJ to take action on his behalf.”

Accordingly, the report revealed that President Trump made four critical decisions that cut against the Democratic narrative irrefutably:

“(1) he rejected Clark’s draft letter;

(2) he rejected the notion of terminating
Rosen;

(3) he did not fire anyone at DOJ or FBI relating to his concerns that more wasn’t being
done to investigate election allegations;

(4) he did not order DOJ to file the draft complaint.”

It is an exercise in the partisan failure of Congress as an investigatory body. Our legislature is completely incapable of coming to an ‘official’ conclusion that is not reflective of the goals of the party in power.
