Shop NowOne of the bigger stories over the weekend was the big rally that Donald Trump held in South Carolina.
Trump somehow managed to fill a town of 3,400 with more than 50,000 supporters.
In addition to the usual, Trump added an attack against Georgia Secretary of State Brian Raffensperger.
Criminal
Raffensperger was among the red state election officials that Trump contacted about reversing votes so he could win the election.
Trump specifically told Raffensperger to “find” votes for him and “recalculate” the total.
The question is all in the interpretation of what Trump said.
Was he demanding the voters be changed or was he merely asking for an investigation?
So far, that answer has largely been decided by party lines, with Democrats saying that Trump was trying to outright change the election results and Trump supporters saying that he only wanted the election investigated.
Trump addressed this call during his rally with a very odd defense.
Trump stated, “The call was supposedly taped in the state of Florida.
“And in Florida, you’re not allowed to do, you know, that’s a two-party state. In other words, you’re not allowed to tape phone calls.
“They taped the phone calls.
“To show you how nice they are, they taped the phone calls, and you’re not allowed.
“So that is the real crime here.”
I am not sure that “they should not have taped me without my consent” is going to fly in the eyes of Americans, so Trump may want to change his tactic here.
That would be like a thief saying he was innocent because he did not agree to surveillance tape.
If Trump were smart, he would just drop the 2020 election from his schtick and move past it, but he is incapable of letting that go.
That became evident during his recent Fox News interview with Bret Baier, when Trump insisted that he won that election, telling Baier that he was looking at all the wrong information and investigations proved that Trump won it.
He said that even though he has lost literally every court case on the matter.
Trump has to let this go or it will crush his hopes of winning in 2024.
