Florida lawmaker Kevin Marino Cabrera should feel right at home in the tropical climate of Panama. Our new ambassador will be turning the equatorial heat up even more. By aggressively explaining how the glitterati banana republic government has violated the legal treaty they signed, back during Jimmy Carter’s mismanagement.

Ambassador to Panama

Panama is under the mistaken impression that the canal we built belongs to them now. As President Donald Trump just reminded them, Jimmy Carter’s gift came with strings attached. They may currently have “control” of the crucial piece of infrastructure but they’re legally obligated to play fair.

Giving the Chinese preferential treatment is a violation of the agreement. If they don’t correct the situation fast, Trump’s going to yank it back.

The government of Panama went into furious howls of hysterics the moment they heard the news. Trump can’t do that they loudly insist to the press. Meanwhile, they’re asking their staff, “can he do that?” The short answer is yes he can.

The longer answer is that he has other leverage to use while the question remains unsettled. Things like tariffs, sanctions and the withdrawal of foreign aid. For starters. The CIA could also engineer another revolution.

The point which both the press and Panamanian officials seem to be missing is that there is a simple and easy way to end the dispute. Kick China out of the canal zone and work out better shipping rates for American cargo. It’s that simple.

Too simple for the government of Panama to comprehend. That’s why Trump’s sending down a delegate. Cabrera is just the guy to explain Panama’s various options. Hopefully, he can steer them to the correct decision, without having to resort to any political violence.

Jimmy Carter’s gift came with strings attached.

A fantastic job

On Christmas day, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to announce Cabrera as his newest diplomat. Kevin, Trump tapped out, “will do a fantastic job representing our Nation’s interests in Panama!

Once a Republican commissioner in Miami-Dade County, Cabrera also worked for Trump’s 2020 campaign. This past year, he was Florida’s representative to the Republican National Committee.

Someone needs to drop in on José Raúl Mulino and quietly slap him around a little. As President Trump explains, Panama is “ripping us off.” They’re charging outrageous shipping fees to use the canal we built at great cost and loss of life. The route has become the “main link between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The third world Central American nation may have been able to shake Joe Biden down but Trump’s not about to stand for it. Especially when the Pooh Bear gets special concessions.

China happens to be “the second-largest user of the Panama Canal after the U.S.,” according to data. They have a whole lot of influence over the easily influenced government through “major economic investments” in the country. Even though “a Hong Kong-based company, CK Hutchison Holdings, manages two ports at the canal’s entrances,” Panama’s president denies any undue influence.

China does not control or administer the canal. When it comes to our canal, and our sovereignty, we will all unite under our Panamanian flag,” Mulino declared. We’ll see what he says when Trump cancels foreign aid to Panama and freezes his personal bank accounts with sanctions.
