I am really wondering what Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg was thinking when he decided to call Stormy Daniels to the stand in the Trump hush-money case.
The only possible reason he could have wanted her to testify was to taint the jury’s opinion of Donald Trump.
After reading her testimony, however, especially on cross, Daniels appears to have done more harm to Bragg’s case than to Trump.
Just Brutal
Donald Trump’s defense team did an amazing job on cross-examination.
Defense attorney Susan Necheles was absolutely ruthless when she got her turn at Daniels.
Necheles flipped the script from Trump trying to keep Daniels quiet to Daniels trying to get rich off Trump and shaking him down.
For instance, she brought up how Daniels went on a “Make America Horny Again” tour, playing off Trump’s election slogan.
She also noted that Daniels had balked at an interview after learning she would not be paid for it, but then did the CNN interview “free” after she had locked down an $800,000 book deal.
Necheles literally made it appear as though every move that Daniels made was motivated by personal financial gain, including selling Trump-themed swag on her website.
This was a complete and utter disaster, and that does not even begin to cover the part of her testimony where Stormy said how much she hated Donald Trump and wanted to see him behind bars.
This establishes motive on her part to say whatever the prosecution wanted her to say in order to hurt Trump.
I can tell you this… if this is how Bragg prepares his witnesses, there is no way that the jury can convict Trump unless they made up their minds before hearing a single word of testimony.
