In another instance of pure hypocrisy from the Democrat Party, a staggering new report shows the truth about the crisis at our southern border.
Joe Biden‘s promises of amnesty and a ‘more humane’ immigration policy were a magnet for illegal immigrants, drug traffickers, sex traffickers, and cartels. Conservatives have known this from the start, but the left appears to be discovering this for the first time.
Border Crisis
Democrats spent the last four years screaming about the treatment of children at the border, but many are silent right now despite the fact that the current crisis is objectively worse than it was under President Trump.
According to a new report, Border Patrol currently has more than 4,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant children in custody. KRDO reports: “The accelerated pace at which children are arriving is adding greater stress to the system, leaving them in jail-like facilities for extended periods of time. As of Sunday [March 14], there were around 4,200 unaccompanied children in Border Patrol custody.”
Until recently, the “shelters” for children were operating with limited capacity because of pandemic-related social distancing measures. As the number of children crossing the border alone started to increase dramatically, the Biden administration had to make a decision.
As The GOP Times previously reported, “While not allowing schools and businesses to open at 100% capacity, the Biden administration is now allowing illegal immigrant detention facilities to open at 100%. The CDC reportedly approved the decision, reversing their previous order to only open the facilities at 50% capacity to allow for social distancing measures.”
This increased capacity only helped so much, as the number of border crossings continues to climb to historic levels. One Biden official was even forced to admit that the increase was the fault of the administration’s policies.
“We’ve seen surges before. Surges tend to respond to hope, and there was significant hope for a more humane policy after four years of pent-up demand. So I don’t know if I would call that a coincidence,” Roberta Jacobsen, a special advisor to Biden, admitted during a White House briefing.
The crisis has gotten so bad that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has had to step in.
“I am grateful for the exceptional talent and responsiveness of the FEMA team,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement. “I am incredibly proud of the agents of the Border Patrol, who have been working around the clock in difficult circumstances to take care of children temporarily in our care. Yet, as I have said many times, a Border Patrol facility is no place for a child.”
“It’s going to be very difficult to stop this,” a Homeland Security official previously told CNN, referring to the spike in unaccompanied children arriving at the border.
The Bottom Line
Democrats claim that their immigration policies are more humane, and that Republicans like President Trump treat illegal immigrants with cruelty. What is more cruel: telling people not to take a dangerous journey because they won’t be allowed into our country, or inviting people to take a dangerous journey where they may be killed or raped, packing them into facilities, then releasing them into the country illegally to be paid slave wages with no benefits at an often-dangerous under-the-table job where they live in constant fear of deportation? Do Democrats think these unaccompanied minors just walked the thousands of miles themselves, or do they realize that these children were brought here by drug smugglers, cartels, or traffickers? Joe Biden’s policies and promises have led to a serious crisis at our southern border, and it’s not going to get better any time soon.
