As a staggering amount of illegal immigrants pours across the southern border, one of Joe Biden’s top aides has finally admitted that the problem is the administration’s fault.
Surge At The Border
According to reporting by The Sun, “Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said their agents and officers detained or processed 100,441 migrants in February.”
The estimated number of illegal immigrants who CBP failed to catch is around 39,000, according to vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Art Del Cueto.
“You don’t know who they are. The big issue is: who are you not apprehending?” Del Cueto asked.
Between January, when President Trump was still in office, to February under Joe Biden, the number of children and families crossing the border increased by more than 100 percent, and the number of unaccompanied children rose by 60 percent to more than 9,400.
Surprisingly, some illegals were actually turned away. CBP reports that its officers sent 72,113 illegal immigrants back across the border, using public health restrictions under Title 42 as their reasoning.
Biden Advisor Admits
Roberta Jacobsen, a special advisor to Biden, admitted that the administration was at fault for the surge at the border during a White House briefing.
According to Jacobsen, who was the ambassador to Mexico from 2016 to 2018, the timing of the border crisis is “no coincidence.”
“We’ve seen surges before. Surges tend to respond to hope, and there was significant hope for a more humane policy after four years of pent-up demand. So I don’t know if I would call that a coincidence,” she added.
By “hope,” she means Biden’s promise of amnesty for approximately 11 million illegal immigrants who currently reside in the United States, and Biden’s decisions to end Trump’s Remain in Mexico Policy and his asylum agreements with Northern Triangle countries. The policy reversal promised by Biden while he was still on the campaign trail gave traffickers, drug cartels, and illegal immigrants in general the hope that they would be allowed into the country to await their asylum trial. Of course, a significant majority of them just disappear, rather than showing up for their trial.
The Sun noted that Jacobsen’s comments come as border officials are learning that “Mexican drug cartels and human smugglers appear to increasingly use colored plastic wristbands to track migrants paying to cross the border. Many wristbands have been found on the ground along the Rio Grande in Texas, which US border officials take as a sign that such cartel activity is rising.”
Even the president of Mexico is concerned about Biden’s policies, arguing that they are incentivizing illegal immigration and organized crime.
“They see him as the migrant president, and so many feel they’re going to reach the United States,” Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said of Biden on March 2.
“We need to work together to regulate the flow, because this business can’t be tackled from one day to the next,” he added.
Trump’s Response
In a statement released on March 9, Donald Trump called Biden out for his “terrible” policies, saying that the United States is being “destroyed” at the border.
“We ended Catch-and-Release, shut down asylum fraud and crippled the vicious smugglers, drug dealers and human traffickers. The Wall, despite horrendous Democratic delays, would have easily been finished by now, and is working magnificently,” Trump wrote.
“Our country is being destroyed at the Southern border, a terrible thing to see!” he added.
The Bottom Line
Donald Trump is right. If he were in office, this surge would not have happened. If Biden hadn’t made outrageous promises on the campaign trail trying to court the radical left, there would be no incentive for these illegal immigrants to make the long, dangerous journey to our southern border. Democrat immigration policies are deadly, and they don’t even care. They want to look like the “nice” leaders, the ones that “help” the disadvantaged. What they really do is incentivize people to pay human traffickers, drug smugglers, and cartels to herd them like cattle on a dangerous journey where women and girls are often raped or sold, and people often die from dehydration or worse. The ones that do make it are brought into the country to become the serf class for corporations or the elites. They are paid less than minimum wage, and are given no benefits. They have no one to complain to about their mistreatment, because they fear being deported. Yet somehow, the media portray the Democrats as the good guys.
