The Senate has unanimously confirmed Army Lieutenant General Chris Donahue for a big promotion, up to full general. That bumps him from three to four stars. He earned those stars in Afghanistan. The only reason he hasn’t been promoted sooner is because one Republican senator was standing in his way. Oklahoma’s Markwayne Mullin finally came to his senses, realizing that a military commander can’t be held responsible for bad Democrat decisions.

Chris Donahue confirmed

Donald Trump has big plans to houseclean the Pentagon and Chris Donahue can help him do it. The seasoned combat veteran is a perfect candidate to replace one of the liberal pantie-wearing four-stars weakening our national defense. That’s the main reason Senator Mullin agreed to his promotion.

Trump’s basic strategy calls for removing practically all the current three- and four-star officers to replace them with the cream of the two-star crop.

General Donahue was in charge of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. He was also the very last soldier to leave Kabul. The night vision image of the general boarding a cargo plane “became a symbolic image of the end of a 20-year war.” He’ll be the first to admit that just about everything could have been done better.

They would have been, except he wasn’t calling the shots. You can blame Antony Blinken for that. The general will officially take command of US Army Europe-Africa. He’s been hanging out at Fort Liberty in North Carolina, as commander of the 18th Airborne Corps.

Along with his regular duties as “the commander of a storied military corps,” General Donahue has been “critical in the U.S. effort to support Ukraine.” He spent his spare time “helping to establish the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine.

Since November of 2022 they act as “a more long-term extension of the work of 18th Airborne Corps, which deployed to Europe to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Chris Donahue was confirmed by the Senate for a big promotion up to four star general.

Three decades since West Point

Donahue has proven time and again that he’s not one of those “DEI hires” everyone’s been complaining about in the military. Since graduating from the West Point war college, he’s spent more than 30 years in active service. The general “has deployed 20 times, including time in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, North Africa and Eastern Europe.

Senator Mullin had it in for him over the Kabul bombing at Abbey Gate. The explosion killed 13 U.S. service members. The senator was livid because “not one person has been held accountable for the disaster.

Mullin has since been convinced that Donahue isn’t the one to point the finger at. Trump’s former Defense Secretary Mark Esper was one of those lobbying for Mullin to back down on his opposition to the general’s promotion.

Responsibility for the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 rests with the White House, not the Defense Department, and certainly not with the uniformed leaders who faithfully executed President Biden’s misbegotten decisions.

Retired General Tony Thomas agreed completely that he’d be a “great pick” with “tremendous experience.” Thomas used to head U.S. Special Operations Command.

Holding Donahue back from promotion is an “absolute disgrace,” he posted on social media. He’s “the finest officer I ever served with.
