Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is not a presidential candidate yet, but if he has any intention to run then that intention can only have been strengthened when he received an endorsement from the richest man in the world. Asked which potential 2024 candidate he is “leaning towards,” Elon Musk simply replied “DeSantis.” Musk also claims that he has now voted Republican for the first time.
Musk likes Ron DeSantis for 2024
Musk only recently announced that he intended to become a Republican, having decided that the Democrats have become too extreme.
As the world’s richest man and one of its most influential, Musk’s political interests have wider ramifications even if he is only expressing personal opinions.
Ron DeSantis insists that he is still focused on 2022 and he has not announced a presidential run in 2024, but Musk isn’t the only observer who is thinking of the governor as a potential candidate.
DeSantis has consistently placed second behind Donald Trump when Republican voters are asked who they wish to see nominated in 2024.
If Trump does not run, DeSantis is by far the most likely Republican nominee. For now Trump seems to be planning his return to the White House, but anything could happen.
The two potential nominees are political allies, and DeSantis isn’t likely to run against Trump if he knows that the former president is running.

Democrats worried about Florida governor
While he said that he prefers to stay focused on 2022, DeSantis acknowledged Musk’s support when asked about the comment.
“I welcome support from African-Americans, what can I say” DeSantis joked in reply. Musk is from South Africa originally.
The Florida governor is even more dangerous than Trump in the eyes of some Democrats, who fear that he can implement similar policies without attracting as much negative attention.
If President Biden seeks reelection in 2024 his only hope of victory might lie in the fact that Trump is an enduring source of controversy that the Democrats can exploit.
Ron Desantis is less abrasive and has fewer divisive memories attached to his political career. It might prove to be difficult for the White House to rally the same kind of opposition to DeSantis that it could count on to challenge Trump.
Elon Musk is now providing additional momentum for the potential DeSantis 2024 campaign, but replacing Trump is a daunting task even for such a popular governor.
