While Nancy Pelosi’s hand picked team of inquisitors hunts for witches in Donald Trump’s White House, throwing the weight of Congress around unconstitutionally with their over-reaching subpoenas, Republicans are fighting back. High powered House conservatives who’s names were “originally submitted to sit on the panel” are doing an investigation of their own into what really happened on January 6.
On Wednesday, December 1, Jim Banks informed the public that “Republicans, at the direction of Leader McCarthy, are conducting our own investigation.” He doesn’t want to tip his hand.
“I can’t go into many of the specifics of what we’ve done or what we are doing,” the Indiana lawmaker explained. “But I will tell you that we will be releasing our findings publicly in the future.”
When the kangaroo insurrection court was being assembled, the “resolution to create the select committee allowed House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to ‘recommend’ five members to sit on the committee but allowed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi the final say on the picks.”
Republicans including Banks and Jim Jordan of Ohio were instantly blocked for being too conservative. Pelosi was expecting RINOs like Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney and didn’t get them. As reported by Washington Examiner, “Pelosi, in a never-before-seen move, blocked Banks (who was set to be ranking member) and Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio from sitting on the committee. That prompted McCarthy to pull his other three appointments in protest unless all five were seated.”
Pelosi went ahead and appointed some pet RINOs. “The two Republicans who do sit on the committee, Vice Chairwoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, were appointed by Pelosi rather than McCarthy.” Furious with the move, McCarthy vowed a GOP investigation of their own.
“Why was the Capitol so ill-prepared for that day when they knew on Dec. 14 they had a problem? And what have we done to make sure that never happens again?”
An inside job
Banks is leading the effort by Republicans to expose the January 6 committee for the sham it is. The Democrats are obviously trying to dig up proof for their “conspiracy theory” fantasy. They keep hoping that “January 6 was an inside job secretly orchestrated by President Trump and his closest advisers.” While Banks is playing things close to the vest, conservative Americans are already convinced that if the Capitol Barbarians were organized and directed, it was the Federal Bureau of Instigation doing the organizing. It’s pretty obvious that they infiltrated “QAnon” and several far-right groups like the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys. They don’t want to talk about folks like Ray Epps, who led the “breach-team.”
He suddenly disappeared from the most wanted list as soon as he was outed as an undercover fed. “The FBI stealthily removed Ray Epps from its Capitol Violence Most Wanted List on July 1, just one day after Revolver exposed the inexplicable and puzzlesome FBI protection of known Epps associate and Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes.”
Liz Cheney already leaked some of what the Republicans are looking at. She accidentally let slip that “Banks sent letters to executive branch agencies identifying himself as the original ranking member of the committee and requesting that they provide him with the same information that it gave the committee.”
She doesn’t like conservatives looking over their shoulders. The FBI instantly punted the issue back to the witch-hunters. “We respectfully refer you to the Select Committee regarding issues of access to records and information.”
Sources have confirmed that the “Republicans are focusing on Capitol security failures.” They’re especially interested in “any role that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had in failing to secure the Capitol.” They “don’t want to get to the main question, which is why wasn’t the Capitol properly secured that day? And the only one who can answer that question is Speaker Pelosi,” Jim Jordan notes.
“In fact, I still believe the reason Mr. Banks and I were not permitted to be on the committee is because Speaker Pelosi knew we were going to focus on that fundamental question.” Another thing they want to know is what happened to Kamala Harris that day.
