The latest polling puts Donald Trump in a very interesting position.
His numbers for the primary, relatively speaking, are very strong.
Trump remains the clear favorite on that front.
However, his numbers in a general election are weak, and there is something else now being held over his head.
An Enigma
A new ABC News/IPSOS poll brings about a very difficult question.
Whether DeSantis runs or not, right now, Trump is the overwhelming favorite to win the primary race.
These waters, however, get very murky when it comes to the indictment.
Even though most people believe the case is politically motivated, 48 percent believe that Trump should suspend his campaign.
Now here is the wildcard…
On that question, the number of undecided voters is sitting at 16 percent right now. Last week, that number was at 22 percent, but those that thought Trump should suspend his campaign was only at 43 percent.
Point being, as more people make up their minds about the case, they are moving to him suspending his campaign.
There is no law blocking a felon from running for president, so Trump could literally lose his case, spend the rest of his life in jail, and still be president.
The other problem for Trump is that nationally, his approval rating is more underwater than Joe Biden’s, which will make it very difficult to win a general election even without him being in prison.
