New Details Revealed In FBI Warrant For Trump Raid

Details have emerged about the warrant for the FBI’s August 8th raid on former President Donald J. Trump’s  Florida residence. New reports also include what the FBI took from the President’s Mar-A-Lago home.

The FBI apparently confiscated 11 sets of classified documents and took 20 boxes of items, according to the Wall Street Journal. Multiple documents are said to have been labeled “top secret.” However, there is still no confirmation of the Washington Post allegations made earlier today that suggested Former President Trump possessed sensitive documents pertaining to nuclear bombs.

Other documents confiscated by the FBI were also marked as “secret,” and there was a handful marked “confidential.”

Trump’s lawyers claim that he used his authority to declassify the material before leaving office. The Wall Street Journal did confirm that a president does, actually have the power to declassify documents, but made clear that there is a federally-regulated process to do so.

Trump took to TruthSocial to address the allegations that he held classified documents: “Number one, it was all declassified. Number two, they didn’t need to ‘seize’ anything. They could have had it anytime they wanted without playing politics and breaking into Mar-a-Lago.”

The former president continued to address his followers by highlighting the contrast in treatment he received compared to another former president: “What are they going to do with the 33 million pages of documents, many of which are classified, that President Obama took to Chicago?”

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) immediately released a statement in response to Trump’s remarks, claiming the agency had resumed custody of the documents that Obama was said to have taken.

The Obama administration, which spent $36.2 million on legal costs in a single year in an effort to avoid turning over federal records under the Freedom of Information Act, has made the bulk of their records available as recently as January 20 of this year.

Included in the items the FBI took from Mar-A-Lago:

  • a binder of photos;
  • “Info re: President of France”;
  • Leather-bound box of documents;
  • “Potential Presidential Record”;
  • a handwritten note; and
  • the executive grant of clemency for Roger Stone, whose house was similarly raided by the FBI.

The search and seizure warrant reportedly authorized FBI agents to search “the 45 Office” along with “all storage rooms and all other rooms or areas within the premises used or available to be used by and his staff and in which boxes or documents could be stored, including all structures or buildings on the estate.” The warrant was signed by Attorney General Merrick Garland and U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, the judge has previously worked exclusively for Jeffery Epstein and was appointed to office by Obama.

According to a Politico report, the FBI is investigating Trump over the potential violation of the Espionage Act.

The affidavit that supports the search warrant is still under seal. Missing from the warrant application, but should be included in the affidavit is the basis for believing that classified documents were at Mar-a-Lago, information that has been gathered through surveillance or informants, and the assertion of probable cause.

Taylor Budowich, Trump’s Spokesperson, said that the FBI’s raid was “not just unprecedented, but unnecessary — and now they are leaking lies and innuendos to try to explain away the weaponization of government against their dominant political opponent.”
