Colorado State Senator’s Bid to Advance Vital Republican Seat

As Colorado drifts closer to resembling the hyper-liberal state of California, a Republican state senator, Dennis Hisey, is trying to keep the fight in order to win re-election.

Re-Districting Makes Re-Election Harder

Drawn out of his secure Republican seat during redistricting, Colorado State Senator Dennis Hisey aims to flip a previously gerrymandered El Paso County district that is now evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats. His victory is crucial to Republicans’ hopes to reverse control of the Senate.

A long-haul truck driver, small businessman, former county commissioner, and currently a state senator, Dennis Hisey is the epitome of the new, hardscrabble, working-class District 11, based in southeastern Colorado Springs. At 30% Hispanic and 14% Black, the district is majority-minority.

Hisey is focused on promoting common-sense leadership to improve Coloradans’ quality of life by lowering the cost of living, putting criminals and fentanyl dealers behind bars, and advocating educational opportunity and choice. District 11 voters will have a clear choice. Hisey’s Democrat opponent has voted for costly new energy, health care, and housing regulations; cashless bail policies that put more lawbreakers back on the streets; de-felonizing fentanyl possession; and voted against education reform measures.

Trusted Leadership

Among Hisey’s legislative accomplishments in his first term: expanding vocational and trade school options for kids and young adults who choose not to go to a four-year college.

Hisey has been endorsed by Colorado and El Paso County leaders, including the Fraternal Order of Police, National Federation of Independent Businesses, Colorado Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Association of Realtors, Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, and El Paso County Sheriff Bill Elder.

Hisey Seeks to Further Republican Gain

Dennis Hisey is the clear choice for voters who want to bring political balance to the Colorado Legislature. Hisey has stood up to Joe Biden and the Democrats while maintaining a reputation for thoughtfulness and bipartisanship. Down 20-15 in the State Senate, Colorado Republicans need to gain just three seats. In Dennis Hisey, District 11 voters have an opportunity to flip a district previously gerrymandered to elect Democrats but which is now highly competitive between the two parties.

He needs Republican support now more than ever.
