Former Vice President Mike Pence has been getting the cold shoulder ever since the beginning of the year. After taking criticism from every side, he sat down and wrote a letter to America. Leftists say it’s nothing but an attempt to become politically relevant again but that’s because he shot their precious election reform scheme full of holes.
Mike Pence goes public
When Former Vice President Mike Pence decided to write an op-ed to set the record straight from his point of view, it’s noteworthy the he didn’t turn to the traditional media networks. He flipped all the liberal MSM press outlets the bird and sent his opinion over to Daily Signal, who are associated with the Heritage Foundation. He had two important things to say.
First, he spent a couple of lines on explaining that he wasn’t acting like a traitor to conservatives on January 6. Much more importantly, for his second point he laid out in detail how the Democrats are trying to steal the election once and for all. He’s begging our lawmakers on both sides of the aisle not to fall for the evil scheme.
Now, Mike Pence proclaims, is not the time to “further inflame passion and division. It is time for our nation’s leaders to help America heal.” There is only one way to “restore public confidence in our elections.”
Our national leaders must “uphold the Constitution, reject congressional Democrats’ plan to nationalize our elections, and get about the serious work of state-based reform that will protect the integrity of the vote for every American.” Their plot is pure evil. “the American people must have the utmost confidence that every voice matters, and every vote counts — or democracy cannot survive.”
Pence is furious that the barbarian invasion of the Capitol building “deprived the American people of a substantive discussion in Congress about election integrity in America.”
There is no doubt that States should be in charge of their own elections and it was troubling that many “set aside laws enacted by state legislatures in favor of sweeping changes ordered by governors, secretaries of state, and courts.” Now they want to make the sneaky tricks mandatory and nationwide.
A brazen attempt
What Democrats are trying to pull, Pence points out, is nothing but “a brazen attempt to nationalize elections in blatant disregard of the U.S. Constitution.” They call HR 1 the “For the People Act” suggesting the communist roots of the project. The massive 800-page election overhaul bill “would increase opportunities for election fraud, trample the First Amendment, further erode confidence in our elections, and forever dilute the votes of legally qualified eligible voters.”
Voter ID laws would go right out the window. Democrats forget that it was Jimmy Carter and his Secretary of State James Baker who warned “the electoral system cannot inspire public confidence if no safeguards exist to deter or detect fraud.”
As Former Vice President Pence emphasized, “Every single proposed change in HR 1 serves one goal, and one goal only: to give leftists a permanent, unfair, and unconstitutional advantage in our political system.”
He went on to call it “an unconstitutional, reckless, and anti-democratic bill that would erode those foundational principles and could permanently damage our republic.”
Not only would the Democrats eliminate almost all the safeguards, they would prevent the individual states from adding proper reform laws on their own. Under the evil scheme, Pence explains, every single state would have to adopt “universal mail-in ballots, early voting, same-day voter registration, online voter registration, and automatic voter registration.” What that means is anyone who’s name shows up in a state or federal database gets a ballot. If you’re an illegal alien on welfare with a driver’s license, you would get three.
On top of that, “States would be required to count every mail-in vote that arrives up to 10 days after Election Day.” Ballot Harvesting would become legal. “States must also allow ballot harvesting, where paid political operatives collect absentee ballots from places such as nursing homes.” That would expose “our most vulnerable voters to coercion.” Meanwhile, “state and local election officials
would be stripped of their ability to maintain the accuracy of voter rolls” and “barred from verifying voter eligibility.”
