The internet is full of some strange and incredible stories of people’s stupidity but one Maryland man takes the cake. The man apparently decided to steal a weapon of mass destruction.
A Maryland man was recently released from jail after stealing a 5-ton military vehicle and leading police on a highway chase in Harford County.

At around 6:35 p.m. on Friday evening, deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to a home in the town of Bel Air for a report of a stolen 1986 923-A 5-ton military vehicle, reported a sheriff’s statement. The vehicle, at the time of the theft, was privately owned.
Law enforcement identified the suspect as Michael D. Stevens II, 38, of Abingdon. Stevens drove through Bel Air and onto Interstate 95 in the tank. Deputies pursued him, trying to use stop sticks to disable the vehicle to no avail.
The man drove down the interstate turning off into Baltimore City, where he stopped on Conkling Street. Local News outlets reports that at this time, he got out of the vehicle and tried to flee. Deputies were then able to apprehend him safely.

Stevens was charged with motor vehicle theft, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and failing to obey a lawful order. He was taken to the Harford County Detention Center where he was held until his release earlier the next day.
According to court records online, Stevens appeared in court Friday afternoon and was ordered held without bond. A spokesperson for the Harford County Sheriff’s Office said that Stevens will have a bail review in front of a judge early this week.
