Trump train is rolling back into town, as former President Donald Trump is going to be headlining a major upcoming event in North Carolina.
Donald Trump is traveling to North Carolina next month to headline the state’s Republican Party annual convention. According to the North Carolina GOP, former President Trump will be speaking at the convention dinner in Greenville on Saturday, June 5.
This will be Trump’s first speaking engagement outside of his Mar-a-Lago resort since the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida on February 28.
“President Trump won North Carolina in 2016 by promising to put America First, and he won North Carolina in 2020 by keeping that promise,” said North Carolina GOP chair Michael Whatley in a statement to Fox News. “President Trump delivered real results for North Carolina by rebuilding the military, standing strong against China, and unleashing the American Economy.”
“We are honored to welcome President Trump to our convention as the Republican Party launches our campaign to retake Congress and the Senate in the 2022 midterms,” he added.

North Carolina is crucial for the GOP, as Trump won the state by only three and a half points in 2016, and by just over one point in 2020. He will need to help the GOP keep the state red in the 2022 midterms, and this event will be a big part of the campaign. Former presidents have always been essential on the campaign trail, as they are often viewed as the head of their party.
Conservatives have long awaited the return of the ‘Trump train,’ as the former president has been banned from social media and lost his ability to communicate with his supporters. Without events like this, Donald Trump would have no way of getting his message across.
