I will never understand what makes people want to race bulls in Spain.
Every year, roughly 100 people are injured during the Running of the Bulls festivals, and there are a lot of them.
Some of those died, which happened this year at one of the festivals.
Just Stupid
A bull runs about 15 mph at full speed.
The average person runs between 12 and 15 mph, so the bull clearly has the advantage here.
Yet, every year, at one of the more than 1,800 Running of the Bulls festivals, people line up and race the bulls through the streets.
This year, an unidentified man was gored to death by the bull during a festival in Pobla de Farnals in the Valencia region.
From what I could see of the incident, the bull had trapped him and another man up against a gate, then proceeded to have this way with them.
The one man was killed, while the other was gored in his leg and taken to a nearby hospital.
And no, I have no pity for stupidity, and that is exactly what brings one to enter the streets thinking you are quick enough to outrun an animal that can kill you.
