A vehicle with suspicious material was discovered on the evening of December 28. The Madison Police Department has blocked off the entire neighborhood Henry Vilas Park.
Police asked the people that live in the 1700 block of Jefferson Street in Madison, Wisconsin to leave their homes or shelter in place.
Two buses were brought to the scene to assist with evacuations, though most residents chose to either stay home or leave on their own.
Officers were first called to the scene at around 3 p.m. The Explosive Ordinance Disposal team of the Dane County Sheriff’s Office has been called the scene as well.
The police department has explained that the Sheriff’s Office has tools that will allow officers to see inside the vehicle without anyone having to approach it.
