Breaking: Dem Senator Sinema Sides With GOP

The Biden administration has made it a goal to push a strict gun control agenda in hopes of limiting access to firearms and the lawful use of them. Well, luckily Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) has decided to split with the Democrats she typically caucuses with to introduce new legislation permitting the Federal Department of Education to fund both elementary and high school hunting and archery programs. Sinema has joined forces with Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) to help make this happen.

This Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act seeks to further clarify an existing statute that the Biden administration has construed as allowing it to defund extracurricular programs that provide education in the responsible use of firearms, such as target shooting, hunting, and archery.

In response, Congressman Mark Green (R-TN) introduced a resolution in the House this week seeking to correct the misinterpretation by the Biden administration regarding these educational activities.

He stated “this is a win for our nation’s students who choose to participate in shooting sports. Defunding shooting sports in schools would be a disservice to students.”

The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was one of the most aggressive gun control acts passed in decades and was heavily criticized for broadening legal definitions related guns sales, tightening purchasing restrictions on firearms and implementing extreme risk protection orders or ‘red flag’ orders which are seen by many Republicans as infringing upon Second Amendment rights.

Senator Kyrsten Sinema took issue with this overbroad interpretation posting on X: “After leading the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law, we’re urging the @usedgov to follow the law and allow students across America to continue educational enrichment programs and activities, including archery and hunting safety education.”

In addition, she sent a letter alongside Senators Cornyn and Tillis explaining their concern about how this misinterpretation threatens student access.

Now they are joining forces again pushing back against what they see as an infringement on Second Amendment rights while ensuring student safety at home and outdoors enjoying recreational activities like hunting & archery.
