Shop NowJoe Biden appears to be intentionally trying to start trouble with China over Taiwan. They have been asking us nicely, over and over again, to respect their sovereignty to govern their firmly declared territory. We have been ignoring their requests and trying to talk the leaders into going solo. Last month, to make a point, China invaded our sovereignty with their Sputnik-like spy balloon. They never expected Joe to shoot it down, even if he did let it complete its mission first. Then, Joe went to the opposite extreme and started blasting kids’ science projects. After all that, Biden’s handlers dared order a highly provocative overflight.
U.S. Spy Plane flies Taiwan Strait
China could have ironically waited until the spy plane was exiting the Taiwan Strait, mission accomplished, to bring it down but they didn’t. Beijing showed remarkable restraint on Monday, February 27. They could have shot down our P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine patrol plane any time they wanted to.
PLA troops were standing by to do it. “All matters were in hand,” the People’s Liberation Army’s Eastern Theater Command said in a social media posting, as “Chinese forces organized to keep an eye on the passage.”
China also accused Uncle Sam of having “deliberately disrupted and undermined the regional situation.” Wang Yi is even more furious, now, than he was in Munich. Obviously, Antony Blinken didn’t hear a single word he yelled at him.

If we want the balloons to stop, Wang warned, stay away from Taiwan and stay out of their pending arms deal with Russia. After all, aren’t we sending “lethal” tanks and jets to Ukraine? You can’t have it both ways, either you’re in a war or you’re not. If we’re in then we’re all in and it’s now World War III. The next option is to go nuclear or not.
As far as the whole Taiwan thing, flipping the issue around makes it clear that Nancy Pelosi was a maniac to even try the silly stunt she pulled. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are both “territories” of the U.S. and we pretty much allow them to run themselves as they please.
Still, in cases like Hurricane Maria and the Jeffery Epstein investigation, they’re our problem and responsibility. If Xi Jinping sent a ranking member of the CCP over to San Juan, passing out commie literature and offering to set them up with a whole bunch of rockets, Americans would be totally livid. That’s exactly what we did to them and keep doing.

Control by force
China has been repeatedly insisting that “self-ruled Taiwan” is still their territory, “to be brought under its control by force if necessary.” Beijing is already ramping up to do it. The only question is when. They have a right to view “the passage of foreign military ships and aircraft through the 160-kilometer (100-mile)-wide strait as deliberate snubs and provocations.” Monday’s jet was as full of high tech spy gear as their balloon was.
“While U.S. warships regularly transit the strait, one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, it is more rare for U.S. military aircraft to do so.” This was the playground bully hovering his face a quarter inch from the nerd’s nose and saying “I’m not touching you.” It’s a dare to do something about it. The bully might get surprised to find the nerd had a two foot long one-by-one, spiked with nails, hidden nearby.
This was obvious political theater, the PLA declared. America “played up” the flight, which it said “endangered peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.” They “firmly oppose this. Theater troops maintain a high level of alert at all times and will resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Okay, so we’re even for the balloon, so back the beep down, Joe. The Navy did their best to throw more gasoline on the raging inferno.
In “a brief statement,” the U.S. 7th Fleet said we did it and so what. “A Navy P-8A Poseidon transited the Taiwan Strait in international airspace on Monday.”
The United States, the Navy insists, “will continue to fly, sail, and operate anywhere international law allows including within the Taiwan Strait. By operating within the Taiwan Strait in accordance with international law, the United States upholds the navigational rights and freedoms of all nations.” Just because they can do it doesn’t mean they “should” do it. Nuclear war isn’t something to flirt with.
