The application for student loan forgiveness has been removed.
Considering how many people voted for Democrats on that specific legislation being in effect, well, I would imagine there are a lot of unhappy liberals out there right now.
Not So Fast, Joe
A Trump-appointed judge threw a big wrench into the system last week.
Judge Mark Pittman decided that Joe went a bit too far with presidential authority and put a hold on the order.
His decision stated, “In this case, the HEROES Act — a law to provide loan assistance to military personnel defending our nation — does not provide the executive branch clear congressional authorization to create a $400 billion student loan forgiveness program.
“The Program is thus an unconstitutional exercise of Congress’s legislative power and must be vacated.”
The White House took down the link, and it also published a statement regarding its displeasure with the decision.
It stated, “We strongly disagree with the District Court’s ruling on our student debt relief program and the Department of Justice has filed an appeal.
“For the 26 million borrowers who have already given the Department of Education the necessary information to be considered for debt relief — 16 million of whom have already been approved for relief — the Department will hold onto their information so it can quickly process their relief once we prevail in court.”
If and when this gets to the Supreme Court, I fully expect the same decision to come down regarding overreach by Biden, which would cause an epic meltdown on the left.
