Finally, a Democrat has stood up and called out all the rhetoric that likely led to the attempt on Donald Trump’s life.
Coming Clean
Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) finally stepped up to call out all politicians, not just the right.
He went off on X with a long post to call out the dangerous rhetoric being used that gets regular American citizens all worked up and leads to violence.
In part, he posted, “We can start by dropping hyperbolic threats about the stakes of this election.
“It should not be misleadingly portrayed as a struggle between democracy or authoritarianism or a battle against fascists or socialists bent on destroying America.
“These are dangerous lies.”
He added, “The result is an overwhelming sense of fear & anxiety about the future of our country, where the normal and tested tools of democracy no longer seem adequate to protect the common good.
“In this light, a rise of politically motivated violence in America is sadly unsurprising.”
To his point, AOC wasted no time hitting a member of her party and the Trump campaign after a Democrat anonymously stated that the party had to resign itself to the fact that a failed assassination would likely put Trump back in the White House.
He stated, “We’ve all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency.”
AOC responded, “If you’re a ‘senior Democrat’ that feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism.”
This was not even 48 hours after the attack, and one Democrat appears more upset about losing power than the attempt on Trump’s life, and AOC just called his administration fascist.
It would be great if politicians could dial it down and allow this country to get back to normal, but this current class of politicians is incapable of doing that.
