Shop NowIt has become politically normal for a minority party in the US Government to offer a “response” address to a sitting President’s State of The Union speech, a prominent member of Congress is typically chosen by the party’s caucus to carry out the task and what amounts to a partisan rebuttal is aired on most news networks shortly after the President completes their remarks. What makes the 2022 State Of The Union to be presented by Democrat Joe Biden on Tuesday, March 1st even more unusual than being given by a man who wasn’t constitutionally elected President is that he will be facing rebuttals not only from the opposing Republicans but also from a caucus WITHIN HIS OWN PARTY.
For the second time in American history, Congressional Democrats from the “progressive” (read: Democrat-Socialist radical) fringe caucus and “Squad” member Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) will offer a response criticizing the so-called ‘moderates’ of her party. Last year the same group proffered a rebuttal from Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) proving Biden is NOT in control of the party.
We're coming together to watch the #SOTU and hear @RashidaTlaib's response, where she will will lay out our progressive vision, support President Biden’s agenda and urge Democrats to deliver big, & rally progressives to go all-in on the midterms.

According to Politico, “In the speech, given on behalf of the left-wing group Working Families Party, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) is expected to hammer moderate Democrats who have stymied Biden’s social spending and climate change package.” The “Working Families Party” describes itself as a “progressive grassroots political party building a multiracial, feminist movement of working people to transform America.”
Historically the WFP is associated with ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now which was forced to dissolve after 40 years following a 2009 scandal when journalists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles exposed them for filing falsified voter registration forms in the 2008 election.
The Democrat Party’s Mid-Term Fracture That Is Turning Fatal
Tlaib is expected to put the deep fissure forming in her party on full display in her response to the State of the Union. The Democrat party has rapidly devolved into the hyper-radicalized socialist, identitarian fringe, and a desperate leadership clinging to power by amplifying their message… keeping moderate and perhaps more reasonable Democrats out in the cold.
In recent months as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took more and more extreme measures to try and push their agenda through, Senators like Joe Manchin (D-WV) and even the nouveau-Socialist former Green Party Krysten Sinema (D-AZ) have resisted, knowing full well that their elections depend on moderates in their home states and more conservative independents. Tlaib’s rebuke seems aimed as much at them as at Joe Biden’s failure to corral his own party.
“No one fought harder for Build Back Better and a pro-democracy agenda than progressives,” Tlaib told POLITICO in a statement. “The work is unfinished and we’re not giving up on what our communities deserve. We need to get as much done for the people as we can this year, and elect a majority that can deliver for working families in 2023.”
Maurice Mitchell, the national director of the Working Families Party bemoaned the “incompleteness” of Biden’s agenda and placed Manchin and Sinema firmly in the crosshairs. “We’re going to be clear about who and why the agenda is incomplete. There are particular political actors — of course Republicans, but then a very niche, small group of obstructionist Democrats. And we’re going to name names.”
Tlaib seems also intent to call out Biden for refusing to issue Executive Orders to “Cancel student loan debt” and ” change the way poverty is calculated in order to expand benefits to more Americans” according to the synopsis of her expected remarks. Because highlighting the disunity of your party is always a great idea going into a contentious mid-term election right? “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
