Head speechwriter Kate Childs Graham is the latest noteworthy staffer to ditch Harris, who has turned out to be a very difficult boss for Democrats who are interested in keeping their careers alive. Harris has also turned out to be a thoroughly unpopular VP according to public opinion polling.
Another staffer quits
The White House said that Graham “is leaving the office, but not the family” and that her former employers “are excited for her next step.”
That sort of corporate style overblown positivity has become a staple of these departures, but behind the scenes staffers are telling a different story.
The Washington Post has reported that sources describe Harris’ leadership style as “soul-destroying” and say that she is a bully who constantly alienates her underlings.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki claims that the exodus of aides from the vice president’s office is a “natural” and “very positive thing” as the work is rewarding but stressful.
Another former Harris staffer laughed off these excuses, saying that the VP burns through and bullies staffers and then pretends that they are leaving for wholesome and positive reasons.
In reality, aides say that Harris neglects her responsibilities and lashes out at others when her own laziness leaves her unprepared and under informed.

Harris office disintegrating under pressure
The vice president’s speeches have not been especially successful either; her public remarks have earned criticism from both the left and the right.
Kate Childs Graham might deserve some of the blame for that, but her abrupt departure will at least save her from taking any blame for future disasters.
A job under Kamala Harris may have been well worth the difficulty a year ago when the Democrats seemed to be committed to grooming her to succeed Biden as president.
Now that it has become abundantly clear that Harris lacks the popularity and competence to win a general election on her own merit, the toxicity of her office must be looking increasingly devoid of benefits to justify sticking around.
There is reportedly extensive bitterness and hostility between Biden and Harris staffers, as the latter feel that their office is being routinely given unpleasant and difficult tasks to spare Biden’s own reputation.
Regardless of how desperately the White House tries to present a happy explanation for the exodus, the continuing departures are starting to speak for themselves.
