Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is making a big splash in the political arena and people across party lines are beginning to take notice of his potential impact on the 2024 election results.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson voiced his concerns regarding RFK Jr.’s effect on Biden and Trump’s base vote during a recent interview.
When asked by Von who RFK Jr. would likely take votes from, Carlson succinctly responded “Oh, who do you think? …Trump. There’s no person who’s thinking, ‘Hmm, I’m going to vote either for Joe Biden or Bobby Kennedy.'”
He went on to explain that people aren’t going to choose between Biden and Kennedy, they’re choosing between different visions of what America should look like based on which party they trust more to deliver it – Democrat or Republican.
Given the centrist views expressed by RFK Jr., many believe that he will steal more votes from Trump than from Biden come election time.
Kennedy’s decision to run independently was largely due to his dissatisfaction with how the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has been handling the 2024 primary debates and other matters within their party.
These issues have led him to declare a newfound independence from them altogether at a recent rally in Philadelphia: “I’m here to declare myself an independent candidate for president of the United States…
I’ve come here today to declare our independence from the tyranny of corruption, which robs us of affordable lives, our belief in the future and our respect for each other. But to do that, I must first declare my own independence, independence from the Democratic Party.”
Given this scenario, there could potentially be a three way split between Biden/Trump/Kennedy when voting day finally arrives next year if polls like RealClearPolitics hold true (with Trump up 1 point) and Independent voters come out in full support of RFK Jr.
