Shop NowFormer President Donald Trump took to social media to gloat over his big win in Sunday’s Turning Point USA straw poll, calling it a “blowout.”
The results of the poll showed that Trump had more than 85% support among attendees, with Michigan businessman Perry Johnson (R) coming in second place with 8%.
Trump posted on Truth Social about the event:
“Just heard that I (WE!) won the big Turning Point Straw Poll in a BLOWOUT, getting 85.7% of the Vote,” he said. “Ron DeSanctimonious came in a solid 3rd with 4.3%, Vivek got 2%, and Sloppy Chris Christie, as usual, got a big, fat, ZERO!”
He continued by noting how impressive the event was for Turning Point. “Turning Point put on a GREAT event in West Palm Beach, setting all kinds of records, including in attendance!”
The straw poll also asked respondents who their second choice for president would be if they could not vote for their first pick.
Surprisingly enough Ramaswamy topped the list with 51% support followed by Trump who had 21%. DeSantis came third at 13%, and Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) received 6%.
It should be noted that some people did list Trump as their both first and second choice which likely inflated his numbers slightly. Additionally many participants wanted former Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake as their vice president while 24% voted for Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL).
At this same event Miami Mayor Francis Suarez (R), Asa Hutchinson (R), form Arkansas Governor and Nikki Haley(R), Former South Carolina governor were present too.
They spoke to motivate people and share ideas regarding current situation of US politics . People gathered there responded positively to these speeches.
