Since the nation was gripped in the throes of the #DefundThePolice movement in 2020 following the deaths of George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor, violence against Law Enforcement across America has increased. Couple with the movement’s successes in convincing police departments like Minneapolis and New York to in fact follow through and strip them of vital funding, and the subsequent resignations of disheartened officers, it has become incredibly dangerous to be a police officer in the United States. The number of officers murdered in the line of duty is steadily growing.

During the reign of the Biden-Harris regime, this has become even more exacerbated as local, county, and state Law Enforcement are called up to carry out increasingly authoritarian orders that conflict with (if not directly violate) the Constitution they are sworn to uphold, further eroding the support that they’ve enjoyed from conservatives, the last bastion of grassroots support they had since the Democrat-Socialists embraced hostility toward them.

The Unbelievable Losses – Police Officers Murdered In 2021 So Far

According to The Officer Down Memorial Foundation, 2021’s Law Enforcement losses have been staggering. a total of 280 officers have died in the line of duty since January 1st, of which 63 were murdered. In 2020, 372 officers died while on duty, 59 were murdered. In 2019, 151 officers died in the line of duty, 62 of whom were murdered.

20201 is trending to be the deadliest year for Law Enforcement in over a decade with total deaths up 9%, Gunfire related deaths up 14%, and vehicle-related deaths up 19%. Overall the number of murdered police officers is expected to reach as high as over 90 before the year’s end.

According to Safety and Health Magazine, and a recently released report from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

“Thirty-eight officers were killed in traffic-related incidents – a 58.3% increase from the same period last year. Among that total, the 19 struck-by fatalities equal the total number of deaths in that category for all of 2020.

Additionally, 28 fatalities related to firearms were reported, including four resulting from ambushes.

The report notes that the current pace of officer deaths puts 2021 on target to surpass the 295 fatalities recorded last year. To date, the 2020 figure is the second-highest annual total NLEOMF has reported, behind the 312 fatalities recorded in 1930.”

“These numbers are a tragic reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers are exposed to each and every day,” NLEOMF CEO Marcia Ferranto said in a press release. “The last two years have been incredibly difficult and dangerous for law enforcement. We will continue our work to honor the fallen and ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten.”
