Acapulco is a bit of an oasis in the middle of hell.
Well, this weekend, those vacationing at the very popular Playa Condesa got a dose of reality as to what really happens in Mexico.
Are Those Bodies?
Beachgoers were horrified when they spotted two bodies on the beach on Saturday.
One person was dead, face up.
The second person had a cement anchor on the hand and foot.
Both had clearly been tortured.
A third person was found not much later at a nearby beach.
This person had been shot in the neck.
After the bodies were found, the State Department reminded everyone that this is the norm, not the exception.
It stated, “Crime and violence are widespread.
“Armed groups operate independently of the government in many areas of Guerrero.
“Members of these groups frequently maintain roadblocks and may use violence towards travelers.
“U.S. citizens and LPRs have been victims of kidnapping in previous years.”
As recently as 2019, Acapulco was rated the 7th deadliest city in the world.
