When the mob of “over two dozen bicyclists” turned violent and laughingly assaulted the proprietor of a liquor store, he pulled his gun and stood his ground. Without the need to fire a single shot, the well defended individual had local juvenile delinquents running for cover. Golden Hours Liquor, on International Boulevard, in Oakland, California, will be getting a lot of free advertising on social media.

Mob mounted on bicycles

New York Post calls the mob “a laughing horde of bicyclists.” Videos are going viral on social media that show them acting belligerent while they thought they had the upper hand. That changed quickly when the intended victim pulled out a cannon and started waving it around.

The unnamed man, variously described as employee, worker, and owner, of the liquor store did everything absolutely right. He kept his head and held his fire. He didn’t even pull his weapon until it was clear he was in life threatening danger.

They may be teens on bicycles but mob violence can be ugly and deadly, no matter who makes up the crowd. The “worker” was minding his own business, standing on the sidewalk outside his shop.

He probably came out to investigate whatever commotion the large group of teens were causing outside his establishment. Soon, he was confronted by “over two dozen bicyclists who had surrounded the area outside the store.

As words are exchanged, “the worker attempts to get in the face of one of the bikers, who is punching his fist against his other hand in a taunting manner.” That’s what’s called an “animated discussion” but nothing alarming.

The situation changed instantly when “another biker slaps the worker across the face, knocking the worker’s hat off.” Defensively, he “backs up from his off-camera attacker.

One of the hoodlums looks like he’s only about ten.

Rapid escalation

The mob went from annoying to dangerous in that split second. One act of violence starts the frenzy. “Another biker, wearing a balaclava, rushes up behind the worker and punches the unsuspecting victim in the side of the neck before landing another punch on the worker’s head, prompting others to follow suit.

Mayhem instantly turned “the area outside the store into a madhouse as dozens of people jump the worker, landing punches and slaps on their target.

As they yelled, “get him, get him,” and the mob tilted over the edge into deadly blind rage, the shopkeeper took action. As he drew what appears to be something like a .45 automatic and waved it around, the crowd quickly took notice.

For a few seconds, there was a sort of stunned shock effect while their brains registered that their victim had turned the tables. Then, they decided running away, fast, was a much better idea. One of the hoodlums looks like he’s only about ten. At least he wasn’t in there throwing punches.

The armed worker positions himself with his back close to a wall as he aims his weapon at one of the attackers.” That pretty much did the trick and the mob disbursed, all on it’s own.

Where you at, where you at,” the worker shouts “as the cameraman has trouble grabbing his bike on the ground.” Oakland police responded long after the excitement was over.
