The death of actor Darren Kent, known for his roles in Game of Thrones and EastEnders, has been confirmed by his rep.
The 36 year old suffered from an extremely rare skin disorder, battling osteoporosis and arthritis.
Fans have taken to social media to honor the star who also directed award-winning short films.
Darren was born and raised in Essex, graduating from Italia Conti Stage School in 2007.
His television and film credits included Malpractice, Blood Drive, The Frankenstein Chronicles and Dungeons & Dragons.
He played a Goatherd from Slavers Bay in a 2014 episode of Game of Thrones and appeared alongside Kiefer Sutherland in Mirrors and Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart in Snow White & The Huntsman.
Carey Dodd Associates who represented Kent paid tribute on Facebook saying “Our thoughts and love are with his family in this difficult time. Darren was not only a talented actor, director and writer, he was truly one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It has been a privilege and pleasure to have been a part of his journey.”
In 2021 BBC asked Kent to direct an episode for their series The Break – leading him to win Best Director at the London International Film Festival with his short film You Know Me earlier this year.
Screenwriter Ben Trebilcook who worked with Kent on You Know Me took time to pay tribute writing, “A true character who was Always creating and forever upbeat and encouraging, Darren will be sorely missed,” on Twitter.
His family & agency noted that, “His indomitable spirit and love of life inspired all he met and he will be remembered not only for his talent, but as a warm and generous friend.”
