What has Joe Biden used as his reasoning for having run for president against Trump in 2020?
Time and again, he points to the Charlottesville, VA, protest by far right-wing groups that turned violent.
After a car plowed down protesters, killing one and injuring more than a dozen, Trump used the phrase “very fine people” when he addressed the nation, which Dems and the media initially said that Trump called the neo-Nazis… only Snopes has finally corrected the record.

Trump waited about 48 hours after the incident to make a statement, which he defended by saying that he did not want to make a knee-jerk statement and wanted to ensure he had all the facts, especially with how touchy this subject was going to be.
When Trump finally spoke, he stated, “You also had some very fine people on both sides.
“You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down, of to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.
“You had people — and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists; they should be condemned totally — you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists.”
Trump clearly condemned the neo-Nazi group, as well as protesters from the far left.
The “very fine people” he was talking about were protesters on both sides who clearly were not affiliated with either of these groups.
Yet, Biden, Dems, and the media put out the narrative that Trump had called neo-Nazis “very fine people,” and Biden has consistently stated that those comments by Trump were what inspired him to run for office.
Snopes has finally addressed this, writing, “While Trump did say that there were ‘very fine people on both sides,’ he also specifically noted that he was not talking about neo-Nazis and white supremacists and said they should be ‘condemned totally.’ Therefore, we have rated this claim ‘False.’”
That is debate gold for Biden because you know he is going to bring that up at some point.
Now Trump can correct him with that report, as should the moderators, if they are doing their jobs.
Trump now has enough ammo to destroy Biden in this debate, but he needs to ensure he remains on point and keep his facts straight.
We all know there will be real-time fact-checking of everything Trump says, while Biden is likely to be able to say whatever he wants.
If Trump can catch Biden in a lie, hit him with the fact, then get Biden off his mark, Trump can expose Biden for the fraud that he truly is.
